Rabbits aren't generally friendly if they're kept outside, I wouldn't let a baby play with one. They tend to nibble, even when they're being nice.
Just a thought - larger breed rabbits can be kept indoors like cats are. We had a big bunny who learned to use a litter box, and to come when he was called. He loved Triscuits, too... :-)What is the best breed of rabbit for a apartment with a little back yard space?
Do you plan on keeping the rabbit indoors or outdoors?
If you are keeping the rabbit indoors, any breed will be fine, as long as it is properly socialized and handled correctly.
If the rabbit will be kept outdoors, make sure whatever you choose has short hair for then they won't get overheated during the spring/summer time.
