I feed him hay already and a carrot, a apple or greens every day and just some ordinary rabbit food however I can feel his hip bones so was wondering what I could do to fatten him up........?What shall I feed my rabbit to put on weight??
To get some weight on him you can mix in some barley and oats to his pellets. Just use the ones you buy in the grocery store. Do not use the instant kind but the plain oats for cereal and the barley you use for soup. Mix in a teaspoon of each with his pellets.
This is a supplement that breeders use to put muscle on rabbits that are on the thin side.
You can also add some black oil sunflower seeds to the mix.
Also if he is having trouble putting on weight he may have parasites(Internal worms). You may want to worm him. We use Piperazine for our rabbits 2X a year. Put 1 teaspoon in a 32 oz water bottle, do this once and then again a week later. What shall I feed my rabbit to put on weight??
These are all good foods. He should have constant access to hay and rabbit pellets, not just a small amount a day, as well as a constant source of water. Also, be careful how much apple/watery vegetables (like lettuce) you give him or it could cause diarrhea, which also causes them to loose weight and dehydrate.
just feed him a little bit more food that you already feed him.
Feed him more pelets
