Can you rifle hunt with a 22 for squirrel and or rabbit in illinois?

Yes.

I'd give you more, but for some reason, it won't load on my computer. Maybe you'll have better luck. Can you rifle hunt with a 22 for squirrel and or rabbit in illinois?
I wouldn't. Shooting ANY rifle UP into the air is not advisable. I guess if you are shooting down from the tree tops or at the ground it would be ok. Get a 20 guage.
Why don't you type in

Why is my girlfriends rabbit doing this?

she keeps trying to cram as much straw as possible in her mouth, it looks like shes building a nest or just trying to cram as much into her mouth as possible.

also acting a bit jumpy but lets go of it all when we take it off her so it isnt stuck in her mouth.

she's roughly 7 months old, not been neutered

cheers! Why is my girlfriends rabbit doing this?
Some rabbits, even with no males around, ';act'; like they are pregnant, usually called false pregnancies. So they go through all the motions of building a nest.

I'd say get her spayed asap. Spaying rabbits is very important especially since uterine cancer is very high in rabbits, and will end with a very painful death. Why is my girlfriends rabbit doing this?
she wants a place to sleep right at night idk
Most likely she's pregnant. Female rabbits begin moving straw and plucking fur off their chest to build the nest near the time when they are going to have the babies. Check with your vet ;)
She proably is making a little nest to sleep in.
my rabbit did that once. she took all of the hay and even would pull off her loose hair and made a nest in her house with it. she totally freaked us out, as she couldn't be pregnant, as we only had two girls. they weren't even in the same cage, so even if there was a mistake, and the other was male, she couldn't be pregnant. after a week or so, she stopped and went back to normal. i still don't know why she did it, but maybe your girlfriend's rabbit will go back to normal too.
maybe shes pregnet :)

I donno

My dads making a rabbit hutch, any cool ideas I could add to it???

It has a big open area with a kind of box that the rabbit can go in and on top of. Any cool stuff you could make of wood to add t it????My dads making a rabbit hutch, any cool ideas I could add to it???
Maybe you could try multi levels with little ramps. Then when the cage is finished, you can hide food and hay all over the place to stimulate his brain. If you don't already have one you could build a corner litter box or a little hutch for him to sleep in. But you would have to glue some metal onto it so that your rabby doesn't chew all the way through it.

P.S. I don't know if this would work, but it would be kinda cool to build like a maze for your rabbit w/ little breaks for food and water and stuff! My dads making a rabbit hutch, any cool ideas I could add to it???
One ';cool'; idea would be to refrigerate it
Hi there! I wrote an article on how to care for rabbits outdoors. Although it doesn't directly answer your question, it does provide info on taking care of a rabbit outside, which I assume you are doing. I have 2 sweet bunnies who do quite well in an outside hutch with a little extra care. Check it out at: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/343330/new_pet_owners_taking_care_of_rabbits.html

Good luck with your bunny!

my rabbit cost 拢19 from petsathome
It depends on where in the country, and what store, I live in KY and they're $25. But up in NJ they're almost $100.
It depends. A good rabbit can cost from $10 to $30, but always make sure to check it before you buy it. For instance, I bought a Dwarf Hotot back in November, and I didn't Check it over for signs of snuffles or anything. It turns out that she had snuffles, which is pretty hard to get rid of, and had ear mites.
By any chance, have you researched breeds yet? If you didn't, try it.

You can always browse craigslist... sometimes you see ppl offering them for free or for cheap amounts w/ everything. For instance, just today, I saw someone offering a rabbit, cage, litterbox, food, magazine, etc. all for $35. Be patient.

I would suggest you also look into adopting a rabbit. Yes, it might be more expensive and a harder process than getting a pet store rabbit, but remember that if you adopt from a rescue or maybe even a shelter, the majority of rabbits they offer will already be litter-trained, neutered/spayed. Female pet rabbits should always be spayed so that they don't get cancer (forget which kind). Some rescues might to home checks and have you jump through hoops, but remember that they only want the best for their rabbits. At rescues, chances are that the rabbit will be at a foster family, which will be able to tell you intimate details about him/her and his/her behavior.

www.petfinder.com is a great site, and simply google rescues in your areas. The fee depends... around $60 or so usually.

www.rabbit.org is a great website to get you started.

    Good luck!
I live in tucson arizona and i had 2 rabbits for 2 years. One floppy eared and one non. They were the coolest. They were about $15 each. I should have just captured some of the baby wild ones that live here instead.

theyre pretrty smart though..just as much as cats. But they also need to be litter tray trained starting from young.
I think you should get a nether land dwarf you are small and stay small you will need from 25-50 dollars to get it or try a farm they might give it to you for 15-20

    good luck
depends on what part of town it's favorite street corner is?

Stay away from rabbit hos you might fall in .....that's what happened to alice and look where it got her.
Well you can't just count the cost of the rabbit. You'll have to also count the cost for the rest of the ingredients. Rabbit stew. Hmmmmm yummy.
It depends where you get it... At my local pet store, they only sell rabbits around Easter, and they cost $15 for non floppy eared ones, and for floppy eared ones it's like $20. I love rabbits, they're so cute!
Just a hare more than a bunny. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    oh my jokes suck.
depends on the color and sex.
I depends on were you buy it. I sell mine for $11. Pet stores seem to sell them for $25 to $30. Also you have to a cage and food for it. So I would say $35 to $40.

As in the Velveteen Rabbit, do they still burn toys/belongings if you have a sickness like Scarlet Fever?

I remember being terrified as a kid that if I got really sick, the doctors would make me burn and destroy all my toys to get rid of the germs. In the Velveteen Rabbit, they sent the kid away to get better, and burned all his belongings to disinfect the nursery. I know things have changed a lot since the story was written in 1922, but I've wondered how things like this are handled now.As in the Velveteen Rabbit, do they still burn toys/belongings if you have a sickness like Scarlet Fever?
We can effectlively disinfect and sterilize things now. The wonders of Chlorox...great stuff...kills germs.

However, in countries with limited access to medical care or little resources, personal belongings may still be burned to destroy any chance of further infection. Corpses can be burned too, rather than buried.

However, biohazard waste is routinely incinerated even today. It's the only way we can be sure that those same items never again somehow get back into circulation (needles, other sharps, blood collection tubes, IV bags and so on)...items that are meant to be used only once and then destroyed.

No, they just try to wash everything....

What should a stray rabbit eat?

Ok, well my dad saved a stray rabbit from drowning in our pool. Now we are nursing it back to health, but not touching it at all with our hands. We will release it back to the wild once it is okay. What should we give it to eat? Please help, i need to make sure he lives. What should a stray rabbit eat?
    Good greens for rabbits are:

    -Broccoli

    -Brussel Sprouts

    -Carrot tops

    - Celery

    - Dandelion greens

    - Dark leaf lettuce

    - Parsley

    - Timothy Hay

    - Watercress

And you want to feed 1lb of greens for every 3lbs of bunny.

    DO NOT feed bunnies:

    - beans

    -breads

    -cereals

    -chocolate

    -corn

    -nuts

    -oats

    -peas

    -refined sugar

    -seeds

    -wheat

When your bunny is feeling aa bit better you can treat him with:

apple slices ( no seeds!), cantaloupe, honeydew, kiwi, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, strawberries, tomatoes, and watermelon.

Just make sure not to over feed with the treats. only 1 tablespoon a day if your bunny is 2lbs. If he weighs 5lbs or more give him 2 tablespoons.

Hope this helps and good luck! What should a stray rabbit eat?

Is it true that if you hug or squeeze a rabbit it will die?

yeah cuz that's what i've heard from a lot of pplIs it true that if you hug or squeeze a rabbit it will die?
You are probably a hundred times heavier than a bunny. Now just imagine something 100 times heavier than you (like a car). If it squeezed you against a wall will you die?

The answer to the bunny and to you is yes it is true big things can kill little things. Is it true that if you hug or squeeze a rabbit it will die?
serenitynow lmao. Why would you want to squeeze a rabbit anyway? Just pet them GENTLY. Considering this qustion maybe you should just leave them alone. I mean feed it and give it water, but YOU shouldn't be messing around with them too much.
The first person took my answer! =( Yep, if you hug anything too hard, it will die. I used to hug my rabbits all the time, (gently), and they never died. LOL
Um...not unless you hug it or squeeze it so hard that you break it's bones or injure it. I have 2 bunnies now and have had them in the past. I hug em and play with them all the time! Just make sure to play with em alot (give them alot of running time around the house if they aren't house bunnies already) and give them lots of love and the right foods and they will live a long time!
If you hug or squeeze it very hard, yes, it probably would die.
if it's too hard well, yes they'll die.
    If you squeeze too hard.
    Yes they will die!
ive hugged a rabbit before and it lived i think if you squeezed it hard it would die tho
know it is not true if you dont hug him to hard because his bones or alittle soft who ever told you that is silly silly, you can hold him ok.
    Depends on how hard you hug him ';Lenny';
Just like an small animal kitten or puppy. If you hug to hard you can hurt them internally
if you squeeze anything too hard it will die

How can i train my beagle to hunt rabbits with a ';dog training rabbit scent?

Should spray some on a teddy or something and make my dog chew on it or tees him with it. WHAT SHOUL I DOHow can i train my beagle to hunt rabbits with a ';dog training rabbit scent?
Hi Ricky...there are multiple ways to train for rabbit hunting. I found several websites that you may find informative on different methods used where one may work better than another.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en%26amp;q=tra鈥?/a>How can i train my beagle to hunt rabbits with a ';dog training rabbit scent?
The best way to train your dog to rabbit hunt is to train it with another rabbit dog. There are two styles of rabbit hunting beagle dogs. One chases the rabbits slowly and the other chases it fast. The competition style chases the rabbits slowly, but if you are just wanting to hunt rabbits you'll probably want a beagle that hunts faster. It may sound a little mean, but you'll probably want to have a remote controlled shocking collar on your beagle when you take it rabbit hunting. One problem rabbit hunters have with their beagle dogs is chasing deer. Rabbits normally keep to a small circle about the size of a football field. If you notice your dog, going chasing something that is going on a wider area, then you need to shock it to teach it not to run a deer scent.

Whitetail deer can run in about a 10 mile radius. And if you aren't careful you could be chasing your rabbit dog all over the country side trying to find it. Running deer is a good way for a rabbit dog to get lost or get killed by running across a roadway and getting hit by a car or something.

If price is that much of a concern, you may want to rethink rabbit ownership. Rabbits can cost quite a bit to care for, including spaying and neutering. Shelters typically adopt out spayed or neutered rabbits for $50 or so.
hm... well you can first go around and ask your friends if they have any rabbits that are not spayed, and maybe they can give you a rabbit for a cheap price after the rabbit gives birth, or... well.. my rabbit cost $40 not including the food, cage, etc. If you want a good and healthy rabbit, theyre usually more expensive than $20.

    good luck!!! ;)

  • Am I the only one who remembers when the Trix Rabbit ate the cereal?

It was maybe in the 90s and kids had to write in that they wanted him to eat it because i think all the color went from the world... but no one believes me! prove them wrong pleaseAm I the only one who remembers when the Trix Rabbit ate the cereal?
In the 1980s, one of Trix's television ads ended in a cliffhanger accompanied by a write-in survey asking children whether the Trix Rabbit should be able to finally get a taste of Trix. The commercial consisted of the Trix rabbit competing in a triathlon, in which the prize was Trix. The Rabbit then got the prize of Trix, however it was taken away from him on the basis that ';it is for kids';, whereas other kids said because he won the race he deserved his prize of Trix. The commercial ended by encouraging kids to vote on whether or not the Rabbit should have Trix and mail-in ballots were included in cereal boxes. America's children responded with an overwhelming ';yes,'; and a subsequent television ad depicted the rabbit finally getting to eat a bowl of Trix cereal. While he is known to have previously enjoyed a bowl in 1976, following this public intervention in 1980 he has not succeeded in gaining access to Trix again. However, in one commercial in the early to mid-1990s, the rabbit (disguised as a police officer on a motorcycle) managed to eat a spoonful of Trix given to him by two children on bikes, but he was so happy he went a little crazy and the costume fell off as usual.

Poor Rabbit! I always liked that rascal and thought he should have his Trix!

Why is my rabbit losing its fur?

My rabbit was losing its fur like a bunch!

    My rabbit is a male.

It shares a cage with a baby female bunny.

What's wrong with my rabbit?!Why is my rabbit losing its fur?
    Hi,

It depends. If your rabbit is losing fur and you can't seem to find where it is then he is just pulling out her extra fur from winter don't worry about that it's normal. However if he is putting her fur in holes and small corners that means usually that he (in this case the female bunny)is having a baby/babies. If you want to know anymore signs then check her stomach for any small bumps that is another sign. Remember if he isn't putting it in corners or in holes then she is just getting rid of extra fur. Hope i helped.

Bye and good luck. Why is my rabbit losing its fur?
It could be that beacuse it's summer the rabbit is loosing it's fur to keep cool. I have 2 Angora rabbits and they were really fluffy and now almost look like normal rabbits. Another reason could be that the female is trying to mate with the male and while trying to grap him she may have pulled some fur out. The female may also be in season so may be building a nest using your male rabbits fur.
It may be shedding- don't worry it happens to all animals when shedding season comes, or the problem may be your rabbit is stressed- so in this case you should feed your bunny LOTS of timothy hay or untreated or natural grass to eat- this will relieve the stress or tension. Take it to the vet just in case!
I have raised 4 rabbits 2 of them were wild. Go to your web search and lifescript.com there should be a heading that says hop into bunny care, you might have to type it in also. This will .answer all of your bunny questions. It's like a news letter with tips for health and complete bunny care. And your bunny is just moulting. By the way you can ask questions and they don't charge you to answer them like some pet care sites.

And to those people who said that his rabbit was dying, not only are you talking out your a**hole, but that is a crappy thing to say to anyone.
How old is your rabbit? It may come from old age or it might have a disease where that is one of the symptoms. Research rabbit diseases or call up your local vetranarian.
My vet told me that rabbits sometimes do that when they have bad infections and/or fevers. You need to take your bunny to the vet.
my FEMALE rabbit lost her fur when she was pregnant, to make a nest for her babies.

How many times r u supposed to take ur rabbit to the vet for check ups?

I get my vet to come in once a yearHow many times r u supposed to take ur rabbit to the vet for check ups?
about every 6 months like a humanHow many times r u supposed to take ur rabbit to the vet for check ups?
About once a year or if they're ill, just like any other pet.
When you first get your rabbit, you should take it to the vet as soon as possible. From there the vet will tell you how often you should bring your rabbit in. It will usually be about every year for an annual check up. They usually send you a notice in the mail saying that it is time for your rabbits annual shots. If they don't send a notice in the mail, then you will probably get a phone call from the office. Some vets will do a complete check up on your rabbit. This is the vet that you want to deal with. You might be required to bring in a stool sample so that the vet can check for any worms and/or other parasites.

Remember, a healthy rabbit is a happy rabbit, and a happy rabbit is a happy rabbit owner.
    every 6 month

How do we take our fleas out of a rabbit?

id call a vet and ask themHow do we take our fleas out of a rabbit?
Rabbits have skin more sensitive than dogs and cats, and therefore do NOT recommend using Frontline. If you visit your local pet store (i.e. Petsmart), they carry rabbit safe shampoos and flea medication. Rabbits normally do not need to be shampooed, but a flea comb may not get rid of all the fleas since their fur is thick. I also recommend spraying your house with a pet safe flea killer so your rabbit does not get reinfected. How do we take our fleas out of a rabbit?
Get some kitten flea POWDER, cut it with Baby Powder and rub in well to the fur.
get some flea shampoo made for cats..[NOT dogs] and bathe the bunny
a flea comb works best! you can also put a little drop of frontline on the back, but not too much!
Find a rabbit savvy vet to talk to. A lot of the products on the market for dogs and cats can easily be fatal to rabbits. Their systems are much more delicate than a dogs or cats.

Heres a link on how to find a good bunny vet. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/vet.h鈥?/a>
You're in trouble. Once your fleas get lost in a rabbit, it's almost impossible to get them back again. Good luck.

Why is my rabbit sleeping in it's litter box?

Each time I try to put something in the rabbits cage (holland lop) it uses it as a bed. I put a corner litter box in there today, along with litter. My rabbit moved a lot of the litter out of the litter box and is now using it as a bed. Any suggestions? The litter box is the corner that ';murphy'; was using all the time to go to the bathroom. Every time he poops I have been moving the poop into the litter box so he knows what it is for.Why is my rabbit sleeping in it's litter box?
Sometimes rabbits will not use the litter box if it has been previously used by another kind of animal. Rabbits are pretty tidy and will find a spot of their choosing most of the time. Just scoop it out every day or so and replace the litter. Sometimes the rabbit will urinate in one area and poop in another separate spot-still easier than cleaning the whole cage every time though. Why is my rabbit sleeping in it's litter box?
Does your rabbit have anything else to lay on? Is the floor wire? Your rabbit is probably looking for a comfy to sleep. If the floor is wire, put some cardboard or something solid down. Giving him a small bed or blanket to lie on can help. A screen for the litter box can prevent him form taking the litter out and it won't be as comfortable to sleep in. You could also get another litter box to use as a bathroom and let him have the other one as a bed.
I had this problem. I was told it was because he was a male and it's a territory thing. They like the smell of themselves. They like to mark themselves I guess. If you notice when you let the rabbit out and they rub their chin on everything, it's to mark his territory. My male rabbit would dive in the litter box and roll around after a bath, wanted his scent on I guess.
can you just fill the litter box with lots of hay instead of litter?

bunnies love eating pooping and sleping the hay and then you wont have to worry about trying ot shange the habit.
lol.maybe ask the vet. They should give you suggestions.

    please answer mine- http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>
I had a rabbit that did that, too. Not sure what causes it.

Why is my rabbit jumping like this?

wen we let him hang around in the house he runs around and jumps and wen he's in the air he sort of does a little kick thing with his back feet. why is he doing that? is he just happy to be running around or is he scared of the cat ( the cat comes up to him alot and smells him)? anyone? Why is my rabbit jumping like this?
haha i have the exact same situation. it means that they are really happy and are loving where they are at. i have a cat to its funny my cat is more afraid of my rabbit it seems. Why is my rabbit jumping like this?
    Because he's a rabbit.
This means that your rabbit is very happy and can't control his excitement! This is called a binky! Have you ever seen you bunny run REALLY fast and then maybe do a binky? Running super fast is called a Bunny 500. I love watching my bunnies run around and do binkies!
probably like he's maybe feeling pain in one foot. :-)

    idk tho
It's called a binky, it means he is super happy!!
Mine do that too. I think it's called popcorning?
My rabbit does the same thing. Just means he is happy.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your bunny.. She is not afraid of the cat or running from your cat when she is doing this, she is just really excited and happy.. Bunnies will run really fast through out the house and jump in the air while kicking their legs up.. It is the cutest thing.. I let mine hang on my bed and watch TV with me and I pet her, When I stop petting her she sneaks up behind me and lightly bites my butt. Don't get me wrong she doesn't hurt me, she just lets me know that she realized I stopped petting her and she is demanding my attention.. If your bunny was feeling threatened at all by your cat she would be thumping the floor very hard a few times in a row or might even growl at her..It sounds like you are a great bunny owner and that she has a lot of room to run around, and she is lovin it!! Good luck..
When he is jumping like that he is just happy.

  • What was the ';rabbit test'; that used to be used to determine pregnancy?

I have heard it mentioned in older TV shows, etc...What was the ';rabbit test'; that used to be used to determine pregnancy?
blood or urine was injected into a rabbit and if the ovaries showed some effects from the pregnancy hormones the woman was pregnant, they were told ';the rabbit died'; but in reality all the rabbits died as they has to be cut open to see if there were effects from the hormone...What was the ';rabbit test'; that used to be used to determine pregnancy?
The urine of the woman to be tested for pregnancy is injected in the immature rabbit then after few days the rabbit is killed and its ovariies are checked. If the ovaries show sign of ovulation then the woman from whom the urine was collected is pregnant. Her urine contains Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin a hormone secreted during pregnancy which induces the ovary changes.

Do you have to have license to own a rabbit?

i'm going to take my rabbit to the vet and i want know if i need a license.Do you have to have license to own a rabbit?
simply no! you don't have to have a license but an IDDo you have to have license to own a rabbit?
No, but I know that I needed a liscence for my Dog in new jersey, and when I forgot to renew it then I had to go to court when I was 13. The vet won't bug you anyway though, even if you did need one.
no way. i don't have anything... i don't think that you even need an ID...
It depends where you live. Each state has their own laws regarding rabbit ownership.

How did a rabbit (Peter Cottontail) become associated with the Easter Holiday?

Easter is a springtime holiday that celebrates resurection, that is the re- rising of something ';dead';. Fertility, rebirth, and new growth are all associated with the spring. The easter bunny is a manifestation of what happens when two beleif systems,Paganism and Christianity (as well as consumer culture)collide. Rabbits are strongly associated with fertility so the easter character required by a consumer culture has been cast as a rabbit who goes around delivering eggs( fertility symbols again)How did a rabbit (Peter Cottontail) become associated with the Easter Holiday?
Peter Cottontail was killed and eaten on Easter Sunday by Ole Mac Donald and his family. If that's not the tradition i vote that we make it.How did a rabbit (Peter Cottontail) become associated with the Easter Holiday?
marketing idea of profitability in merchandising
i think the first animal JESUS saw when arose from the tomb was a rabbit so we have an Easter bunny henceforth peter cottontail
Easter is a time of rebirth and Jesus' ';rebirth'; or resurrection. Rabbits represent rebirth because of their reproduction rate especially in the spring.
Some non Christian, Group of Non Christians or Current US President created a great plot to commercialize Christian holidays and bring Christianity to is demise. Just think rabbits and eggs on Easter for Jesus rising from the dead, Santa Clause on Christmas for the birth of Jesus, and what about St. Patrick's day? They took a good Christian Saint and turned him into a reason to drink Beer and eat corn-beef cabbage. I rest my case.

I say it was Terrorist and/or George W. Bush one or the other gets blamed for everything now days anyway so what is one more thing. If you talk to some people they are one in the same.

Although all the things we blame GW for could be a terrorist plot designed by Osama Bin Laden.
Easter was a pagan ritual to worship the Goddess Diana. She was the Goddess of fertility. The pagans did sex acts as worship to her. Thus, multiplying animals like chicks and rabbits are the modern day version of that.
Because when the Christians were trying replace pegan holidays with christian ones and they got mingled together. Easter replaced a pegan holiday celebrating spring and new life. since rabbits have a lot of babies quite often they were a symbol of new life the same for eggs. though I suppose as a christian you could make the same correlation. Jesus start a new life in heaven. and a new begging for humans. But alot of christian holidays coincide with old pegan holidays. Even Christmas was placed on December 25 to take the place of a pegan celebration, moth theologian scholars agree that Jesus would have been born in the summer months. pretty interesting huh? It sometimes makes me question my beliefs. Oh well that a different question. Hope this helped. PEACE OUT!!

Why does my rabbit eat her fresh droppings?

I have a female ';mix breed'; rabbit. She lives in a large hutch outside and one day ';its kinda gross'; but she was eating her really fresh droppings ';ewe!';. So why did she doe this? should i worry? is she okay? or should i change her diet? Why does my rabbit eat her fresh droppings?
It's normal and desirable. What she is eating are her cecotropes. Basically it is not true feces, but a mass of nutrients that didn't get absorbed the first time around, with beneficial bacteria and fungi that are vital for proper digestion For more information about bunny poop, what's normal and what isn't, take a look here: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.htmlWhy does my rabbit eat her fresh droppings?
Rabbits have been known to display the behavior of copraphagy, or eating their own feces. This usually happens when an animals digestive tract does not fully digest their food, and they eat their feces to get a second chance at the nutrients within it. Its very normal, and nothing to worry about.
Rabbits always eat their own droppings - usually fresh droppings. This is perfectly normal because a rabbit does not digest all of the value of what is eaten at first go and thus the droppings are of considerable value as a food resource.

This link below will help explain more about the rabbit and it's life style and habits etc.

    http://www.fao.org/docrep/t0690e/t0690e0鈥?/a>
Rabbits have special droppings that they eat right as they leave called cecotropes. They basically eat their food a second time, as they do not get all of the nutrients the first time around. As long as you don't see a giant pile of these special droppings, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
It's normal. They're called cecotropes. It's got beneficial properties for them. Think of it as yogurt for rabbits.

Its totally normal. because there food isnt digested fully, they double eat there food. all rabbits do it. it's nothing to worry about. because the food is already partially broken down, they can digest more on the second time round.
if you feed them too much fresh fruit and veg they can't digest it properly, so they eat it again to gain all the nutrients, same as gorillas do. you obviously didn't do your research before taking on the pet
    It's normal :)

Due to their digestive system, the food they eat is pooped out and then they eat it for the nutrients :) disgusting... but good their health !

How do I keep Wood Mice out of my rabbit hutch?

Set traps or get a cat. Good luck! How do I keep Wood Mice out of my rabbit hutch?
Sorry to hear about your problem. We had the very same thing when we had rabbits out the garden, the feild mice would have a right old time nesting and eating the food. We did everything you could think of , including putting poison around the hutch. It got a few mice but we werent successful in fully irradicating the problem. I was glad in one way when out rabbits passed away as we didnt have to see the rabbits homes invaded by mice anymore. How do I keep Wood Mice out of my rabbit hutch?
Blacksnake. Cats get in the way. Poison or snake. Mind you, need a big black snake so as he cannot get to the wee baby rabbits.
You will have to put out poison, where there is 1 there are 20 and they will keep making a way into the free rabbit food. You will need to set out poison and wait about 3-4 days and WA! LA! no more mice. This may seem cruel but ive been raising rabbits for like 7 yrs and at least once a year we have to put out poison or the mice and rats will over run the area. They dont stop breeding and it only takes a short time to have a lot of them around.
It's just a thought but, apparently, rats will not cross wire wool they absolutely hate it, so maybe you could try it for the mice it's worth a go and wont harm if it doesn't work, unlike poison.
    Shoot 'em!!
they can probably get thru the wire, or they have eaten a hole into the wood.

either block up the wire, or block up the hole.

does your bunny mind the company?
    put poison by the hutch

aww poor lito hurtful bunny ._.
    Smart shopper!
    CRUEL
Depends. Are they serving it at a homeless shelter?
They would be in one word: hypocrite. Adopting an animal is making a commitment to care for it, that includes keeping it alive. Not only would you be deceiving everyone, you would have to kill that animal you promised to care for.
Hmm, good question. My first reaction is shock and a little horror. But then, assuming it's killed humanely, is it really any different than buying rabbit meat at the butcher? Why is one rabbit more deserving of life than another?

I don't know if anyone would do that though. There are adoption fees, and I'm pretty sure they run more than the cost of the meat at a store.
Didnt your mama teach you that you dont eat pets
Is that a symbolic question? I think people (so called friends) would do it to teach other.. lol, and eating them isnt literal here
not a bad idea rabbit is good. it's hard to hunt them in the wild
Sounds like someone trying to pick a fight with an animal rights group... But an honest answer, you know it's not the right thing to do at all.

  • Why is my rabbit still spraying after being neutured?

He was desexed on Wednesday and hasn't sprayed until today.

COuld it be that he jumped while peeing :\Why is my rabbit still spraying after being neutured?
    Hi there.

It can take a number of weeks for the spraying to stop after a male has been neutered.

I hope I helped :)Why is my rabbit still spraying after being neutured?
It takes him a little while to get all the extra hormones out of his system and unlearn the behaviour. He will calm down, just not straight away. My rabbit was done about two or three weeks ago and he's settled down a lot already.
It can take a while after the neutering for the spraying to stop. It will stop though.
Their body is pumping around hormones even faster now, it'll take a while for them to stop. Mine humped each other for a while after neutering/spaying
It can take up to 3 months for the bad habits to disappear.

Up until then testosterone is still at high levels in the rabbits system.

Make sure the buck cannot smell any doe's as this will encourage him to spray.

Make sure his cage has been thoroughly disinfected to take away old spray as this will also encourage him.

Can rabbits eat other than rabbit food?

The pet shop keeper said that other food such as carrots, vegetables, etc is not very good for them. Is it true? Can rabbits eat other than rabbit food?
Before six months, bunnies' main diet should be hay, water, and lucerne pellets. Some say you can begin introducing vegetables at four months, some say not until six months of age. Most importantly, when you begin to introduce vegies, you must do it VERY slowly and gradually - begin with just one slice or one very small piece of your chosen vegie or fruit, and make sure it doesn't give her diarrhoea over the next 24 hours before giving any more. Please see my website, where I've written articles on this, at

    http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/bunn鈥?/a>

Also, NEVER give lettuce and NEVER give cabbage to rabbits - lettuce and cabbage are both very bad for rabbits, can cause diarrhoea and bloat which can kill them -

You can feed the rabbit Spinach, Cali flower, lettuce, radish,

    and any other veggie

Don't feed it to much carrots it will get a stomach ace
No, otherwise God would have made rabbit food. He just wants to make money off rabbit food. It won't hurt to buy a good rabbit food as part of their main meal, but definitely supplement with carrots, greens, etc. and the little guys will love you for it.
I feed my rabbits all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Mine love cucumber, oranges, apples, banana's, pretty much anything. They can even eat bread and some kinds of nutri-grain type bars. You should avoid iceburg lettuce and try to give them mainly dark colored leafy greens. There are some foods that you should never give them, like onions and radishes. The pet shop keeper was just trying to get you to buy lots of pellets. When buying pellets, try to get timothy based pellets. Most are alfalfa based and that is only good if your rabbit is young and growing or if it is pregnant or nursing.
you should rely on what a VET tells you not a part time employee working for a pet store.

and NO carrots and other veggies are NOT bad for you bunny, that pet shop worker doesn't want you to stop buy food there.
I feed our bunny carrots and lettuce some times. But I don't know if it's true.
No its not true. In fact, lettuce and shredded carrots help its bowel movements and you can even place a whole carrot in there for them to nibble on and that will help with their eye sight. I had a rabbit and I fed it lettuce and carrots at least 2 times a week and it lived for 15 years.
As a rule of thumb, people who work in pet stores are rarely informed about the animals that they sell.

Carrots are fine for rabbits, but since they're a starchy vegetable, they're really more of a treat and should only be given in limited quantities.

There are lots of veggies that are good for rabbits, but there are a few that are bad. Check the link below for more detailed info.
Tell that to the rabbits who keep eating my garden!
That shop keeper is an idiot. If your rabbit is under 8 weeks old stick to pellets and the shop keeper shouldn't be selling that young anyway. The pellets that you do feed your rabbit shouldn't have any grains or fruit in it. That will only make your bun fat. Please go to http://www.rabbit.org There are lots of articles on things to fee your rabbit.
wild rabbits eat sheep food and cow food
I had never thought about it but I know that gerbils and hamsters are only supposed to have a small amount of fresh veggies or they can get sick (diarhea). On the other hand, guinea pigs can eat all the fresh veggies you want to give them. I always thought that rabbits and guinea pigs had a lot in common. My neighbor let all his rabbits go so there are about a dozen rabbits wandering around my neighborhood eating grass. It actually sounds to me like the pet store owner just wants to have you buy lots of extra rabbit food.
they can, but it might not be as good for them
No, a healthy diet includes lots of fruit and vegetables.

Not to mention the little guy will love it.

Just watch to make sure your bunny friend gets lots of exersize and doesn't get fat.
feeding ur rabbit vegetables is perfectly okay, as long as they are organic or they are rinsed in water really well because the pesticides that are sprayed on them can make ur rabbit sick. Carrots would be fine cause they grow underground, its stuff like lettuce that is dangerous
Back when we had rabbits, we fed them rabbit chow and we also supplemented that with carrots, lettuce, other greens in the house and other vegetables as we happened to have about.

Our rabbits loved all of it and they lived long while growing nice and plump and adorable.

    Hope that this helps.

Should I hunt rabbit with a hollow point air rifle pellet or a pointed deep penetrating air rifle pellet?

.22 caliber Beeman Crow-Magnums or .22 calber Beeman Silver Arrows??? Why would one work better than the other and for what reasons???Should I hunt rabbit with a hollow point air rifle pellet or a pointed deep penetrating air rifle pellet?
The answer depends entirely on what you are hunting with. If you are running an air rifle which reliably generates 15+ foot pounds of energy at the muzzle, then a Crow Magnum will typically still expand out to 40 yards or so, according to some different sources, as well as some experimenting I have done with my Webley Tomahawk, you need something like 6 - 8 foot pounds of energy to get them to expand.

So if you are running something in the 12 foot pounds of energy range, like an R11, or an R9 then I'd be more inclined to use the Silver Arrows unless you are running inside of 30 yards for your shots.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of pointed pellets except in low powered air rifles and would suggest you look at some of the domed, my favorite being the Crossman Premiers, Webley Lazapels and the JSB Exacts for higher power or the express for a lower powered gun.

I'm assuming you have sorted out your skill with the air rifle for making humane shots, and have sorted out the laws in your locale for doing your rabbit hunting.

ThinkingbladeShould I hunt rabbit with a hollow point air rifle pellet or a pointed deep penetrating air rifle pellet?
    bunnies are very thin skinned

i have used both with the same result

dead bunny and one shot kills

which ever is the most accurate in your gun will be more of a concern for you so that you can place the pellet where you want it every time.
I have to disagree with Chuck.

Unless your an expert marksman then air weapons are at best marginal on any thing bigger than rats. I'm a firm believer in humane kills.

Best thing I can say on air weapons is that they don't blow holes in the barn when you shoot the rat.

    Ian M
A - Always use the pellet your rifle is most accurate with

B - Domed pellets are ';generally'; the best for hunting, since they retain velocity better and therefore deliver more energy at impact than other pellet shapes

C - You're going to have to have a very powerful rifle to push .22 caliber 18.2gr Beeman Crow-Magnum pellets at what IMO is an optimum velocity(around 900fps).....A MV of 900fps gives you a very flat trajectory and an inherently accurate rifle/pellet combination.....You would need a 20.0fpe rifle to push that pellet at even 700fps....

I don't know what rifle you have, or other factors, I'm only trying to make a point....%26gt;A rifle/pellet combination that gives you a poor trajectory makes it difficult to hunt effectively and humanely.... IMO, it's not fair to the game we hunt. You can't afford to be off by even an inch in your hold over/under let alone 2 or more....

Could it be done, you bet, it becomes much more difficult though....If you're the kind of person that puts 100 or more rounds through your rifle each day, and knows to within 1/4in your hold over/under at every range out to the effective limits of your rifle, then you could do it.....
doesnt really matter, as long as you have a decent gun they'll both work wanders,

just a personal note: i've already killed a rabbit with head shot at 45 yards using crossman premier hollow points with a 1000fps .177 pellet gun

EDIT; some people will come on here and sware that a 22LR is the way to go, but those are just the people that have never shot a high powered pelllet gun before

EDIT: or you'll get some PETA FRECKS saying how bad it is to hunt, all i got to say is RABBITS MAKE GREAT STEW!!!

    EDIT:

IAN M- shoot a high powered adult air rifle once, not all air rifles are like the red ryders, there some pellet guns out there that have BEEN PROVEN to KILL mountian goats, and when your blowing stright though a 4x6 and a 2x4 at 50 yards, i'm pretty sure that its a little over kill on rats, I've already got INSTANT KILLS on ground hogs/ woodchucks at over 100 yards with a high powered pellet gun
if they are accurate in your gun, they are both good rounds and ive killed bunnies with both.
well if you are in pennsylvania, thats illegal my friend
You shouldnt hunt rabbit at all. What have they ever done to you?

Why does my rabbit cover up the hole?

i think my girl rabbit just gave birth in a hole, but then she covers up the hole with dirt and never touch it again. what do you think? Why does my rabbit cover up the hole?
They do touch them again dont worry, domestic rabbits that are bred outside commonly cover the hole over after they give birth to protect the babies, when the mother feeds the babies (only once a day, so dont be concerned if you dont see her feeding) she uncovers the hole, then when shes finished, she recovers the hole :) if you are really concerned, you could put a sprinkle (only a tiny bit, just so you can tell its there) of flour over the hole, if the flour isnt visible when you check in the morning, you know the mother is feeding, if its still there, you know shes not feeding and the kits will dieWhy does my rabbit cover up the hole?

  • What is the difference between a bunny and a rabbit?

????What is the difference between a bunny and a rabbit?
There is no difference. Bunny is just another word that people apply to rabbits,

Sometimes people use 'bunny' to distinguish a baby rabbit from an adult rabbit. usually however it is just a cute term for a rabbit. Another name for baby rabbits is 'Kits'.

Bunny is a slang term for rabbit. it doesn't mean baby rabbit, it just means rabbit. People who raise rabbits for a business or fanciers who show rabbits almost never use the word bunny in serious conversation. What is the difference between a bunny and a rabbit?
there is originally no such word as a ';bunny';.It is not in the original english dictionary.

Some people may refer baby rabbits as a ';bunny'; or any rabbit who posses a cute face. But originally, there is no such term.It is just used to express appreciation for a ';cute'; rabbit....

    cheers!
    bunny is a nickname. You might be thinking of the difference between a rabbit and a hare. They are separate species, so a rabbit isn't a hare, and a hare isn't a rabbit. But I guess you could nickname either of them ';bunnies.';

Feed the rabbit, he just wants some freakin fruit cereal.

    Kids can be so cruel.

because the rabbit is a child molesting fatass lol
I know he just wants like you said some yummy for his tummy.
The kids need an a*s beating!!! Give that rabbit some cereal!
Because they have yet to be taught the importance of sharing.
I KNOW! I mean, damn is it so hard to let him have it at least once?

yeah cuz that's what i've heard from a lot of pplIs it true that if you hug or squeeze a rabbit it will die?

    Depends on how hard you hug him ';Lenny';

If you want a good and healthy rabbit, theyre usually more expensive than $20.

    good luck!!! ;)

Am I the only one who remembers when the Trix Rabbit ate the cereal?

You need to take your bunny to the vet.
my FEMALE rabbit lost her fur when she was pregnant, to make a nest for her babies.

about every 6 months like a humanHow many times r u supposed to take ur rabbit to the vet for check ups?

I got a rabbit and was wondering if anyone has any info on house training.?

She is a lionheaded rabbit.I got a rabbit and was wondering if anyone has any info on house training.?
Yeah, here is some good info:

http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/r鈥?/a>I got a rabbit and was wondering if anyone has any info on house training.?
Well, what you could do is buy her a potty training kit. And when your ready to train her, add some food next to the potty training box. If you pay attention, they tend to go to the bathroom where there food id located in the cage. Then show her that's where she has to go. Leave her in the box for a few minutes.

    Good Luck
    1. Get a cat box and attempt to get the rabbits to use it. The ways of doing this are specific, but mostly involve never letting rabbit ';droppings'; or urine stay anywhere else. They like to go in one spot...usually. Well, sometimes.

    2. Keep the rabbit in an area that is easy to clean up most of the time. Your bedroom is not one of those places.

    3. Don't let the rabbit chew on electrical cords, phone cords, TV antenna leads, shoes, carpet edges, wallets, cardboard, plywood, trim around doors, and so on. They love this. Give them stuff to chew that is safe and wears down the ever-growing teeth (or you will have to trim the teeth. Don't even go there). Pet stores have suggestions.

    4. Build a nice safe outside pen for the rabbit and bring it in only when you can watch it like a hawk. Oh, yes, when outside watch for hawks they have plans for rabbits.
I myself have no idea but i know they sell rabbits already trained like that. My advice is go to a local rabbitry or pet store and ask a professional! best of luck!

You can connect it by putting the run next to your rabbit hutch door ( if its that type ) and it will connect or put things on the side so the rabbit cant get away. How would i connect my 6FT run to a rabbit hutch?
Cat flap, many people use this as a way of letting their rabbits have exercise but being able to control when they are allowed out. Get one which is lockable.
    try nailing it to it

Found a wild rabbit in my snowman? What should I do?

because of crhistmas, i have a light snowman in my front lawn. I was raking leaves yesterday and i found a rabbit was in there. It was in the blank space in the snowman. It looked cold and hungry. Because it was 30 some degrees outside.

What should i do to help it?Found a wild rabbit in my snowman? What should I do?
If you're positive it's a wild rabbit, best to leave it alone as they are VERY high stress animals. Rabbits don't hibernate but if you think he may be having trouble finding food you can put out some food for him. If you could get some timothy or alfalfa hay (from your local petshop) that would be ideal. A mix would be great and alfalfa hay would provide him with the extra fat he'd need to get through the winter. You could also provide rabbit pellets and vegetables. For veggies, dark leafy greens like dandelion leaves collard greens, broccoli and romaine lettuce are best. Carrots are ok but despite what you may have learned from bugs bunny, they're not good to be eating all the time as they're very high in sugars.

If you keep a close eye on him, watch how he's moving. If you see him limping, call a wildlife rehabilitator in your area. They may or may not help him as again, wild rabbits are VERY high stress and their survival rate in human care is VERY low

Please do not attempt to handle him yourself.

EDIT: If you think there's a possibility he may be a domestic rabbit, go to www.rabbit.org and locate a rabbit rescue or call up your local wildlife centre. Based on your area, they will be able to help you figure out whether it's a domestic or wild rabbit. Even domestic rabbits can stand the cold but only if they are strictly outdoor rabbits. A domestic rabbit which may have escaped or been let loose from someone's house at this time of year would not be able to stand the cold.Found a wild rabbit in my snowman? What should I do?
If he is a wild rabbit, just give him some vegatables and hay then let him go.
you should just leave it alone. maybe put lettuce in front of the hole. then leave it alone
The best thing to do for an uninjured wild rabbit would be to leave him alone. If he is injured you could take him to a wildlife rescue and if you dont know of one in your area most vets have the number for them.
call animal control, and be very careful. they can be viscous

Is having a rabbit around a pregnant woman bad for her?

my pregnant sister is coming for the holidays, and a friend asked me to watch his rabbit. I'm wondering if there are health risks or other dangers. As far as i know, the rabbit has had all its shots and goes to the vet regularily. My sister is allergic to cats. Could she also be allergic to rabbits? Could an allergic reaction negatively affect her baby?Is having a rabbit around a pregnant woman bad for her?
There is not really any risk with a rabbit being around someone pregnant. Also, the dander on cats is different than that on rabbits, she may still be allergic to a rabbit but it won't be because she is allergic to cats. If she is then just put the rabbit in another room and spend time with it in there until she leaves. Is having a rabbit around a pregnant woman bad for her?
I would just keep the rabbit clear of your sister just to be careful but I don't think that just because she is allergic to cats that means she is also allergic to rabbits.
some animal feces contain bacteria dangerous to pregnant women/ unborn children as long as she doesn't touch the feces

    she should be fine.

    with onions

    (sorry, couldn't resist an answer)
Awesome. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.
bunny stew sounds good to me, throw in a kitten though to add extra flavor.
Did you ever notice only guys ask and answer these type of questions? (For the most part)

You guys are always like little boys. Anything for a laugh or a scare. If I am in a good mood, I appreciate it and if I am not in a good mood, it pisses me off. Much like when we were kids and my idiot brothers would torment me................

By the way, don't forget to skin the rabbit BEFORE you cook it.
roast it at 350 degrees until it reaches about 170 degrees at the deepest internal portion of meat. Put onions, garlic, celery, etc in the roasting pan.

sounds tasty. Like I tell my kids:';everything is food for something';.
    bbq yum or smoked
are you retarded you dont cook a pet thats like cooking your kid
    sick, sick, sick question.

Why does my rabbit always move her littler box around?

she chews it up and grunts and moves it to the other side. Why does my rabbit always move her littler box around?
When you clean her up do you put it back to the side she moves it from? If so she's just letting you know where she wants her litter box. lol. Bunnies can be very fussy where they have their 'furniture' and love to move it around. Does she have many toys to distract her if this is not the case? My bunnies have a teddy, plastic keys, jingly balls, toliet roll tubes stuffed with hay (occasionally treats too), a blankie and various other toys to suit each of their personalities. Flopsi likes to dig and chew so I got her a straw carrot for 拢1.50 from the pet shop that she loves ripping to shreds also these are good fun for bunnies but don't last too long:

As she jumps in and out, she bumps into the side and it slides. As far as chewing goes, try to put something in the cage for her to chew on, rabbits need to chew on things to wear away their teeth, which are continuously growing.
If it bothers you or makes a mess you could put something heavy like a rock in it. Or get a heavier litter box. also make sure she has things to chew on.
rabbits in the wild bury in the ground and warm them selves up and dig holes so what he/she is doing is just natural!! get more newspaper or straw in her/his cage! hope this helped
She is probably just playing with it. It gets pretty boring being in a cage all day. Don`t you think?

Want makes an easier to care for pet, a rabbit or Chinchilla?

What makes an easier pet, rabbit or chinchilla? and if a rabbit (which I believe so) how can I talk my sister out of getting a chinchilla (she wants one real bad, but is a college student and doesn't have enough time yet can still provide about 3 hours of attention daily w/out my help which I will be doing.)

Also support you answers with facts please!!!Want makes an easier to care for pet, a rabbit or Chinchilla?
i believe a rabbit is easier because with a chinchilla you have to make sure not to get it wet cuz it can die if it gets wet. also they cost alot more than a rabbit. the average price for a chinchilla is about $110 some are even more then that!....and they are real skiddish, they dont like to be held as much....but with a rabbit it can hop around, it can get wet(if needed to be cleaned, you still shouldn't clean them that much only clean small animals after they have been sick to help them) and you can hold them. I myself am a rabbit owner and i just cant get enough of them! Don't listen to people when they say a certain animal gets sick more than the other....that only happends if you dont take care of it the right way....any animals can get sick!....but people who care keep them from dieing....and don't get a pet if you are not willing to give it the love and ATTENTION it needs!Want makes an easier to care for pet, a rabbit or Chinchilla?
Rabbit. Chinchillas I've known have been skittish and biters!
chinchillas supposedly gnaw through everything and are picky and bite.

i dont know. cats are easy to take care of.
I really want i chinchilla too :(( a guy who works at petco says they don't shed, and also-they are so cute, and take their own baths, (dust baths i think-something like that) rabbits aren't as fun, or cute as a Chinchilla-they are very curious and adorable, aww!!! i SO want one, i'm jealous that she even has a CHANCE of getting one :(((

Psh, i'm sorry, but, for me it's not a question, ';Hey Michelle, would you rather a rabbit or a chinchilla?'; (i have a rabbit BTW) ';Duh!!! A chinchilla.'; No one who really knows me would ask me that quesiton-they know i'm obssessed with chinchillas. Yeah, i pay no attention to the rabbit at all-he bores me, and i'm allergic to him. Honestly...he does nothing pretty much.
I have wanted a chinchilla too! Yet, they are very expensive and it takes a lot of time and work to keep them. Maybe one day I can get one, yet rabbits are easier. (I have one) But they both still take a lot of work. I would suggest to get 2 rats. they are really cute and fun. All you need to do is play with them, give food and water and clean their cage every week. Yet playing with them is the best part! So suggest to her to get a rat or a hamster. Both are fun. But if she DEFINETLY wants either a rabbit or chinchilla. Either are great, yet rabbits are more social!

    good luck! %26lt;3 :)
    badger
Chinchilla maybe havnt had one but rabbits go to the bathroom alot and it stinks really badly...and they hate it when you trimt here nails...not really fun anyways.
adopt 2 homeless kittens, they will entertain you for hours, and they pretty much take care of themselves. rabbits get sick and die easily, i dont know about chinchillas, but i would go for cats. good luck.
